Paralyzed Man Walks Again

A paralyzed man in London, England is able to walk again after receiving a revolutional treatment that is characterized by one of the scientist involved as a breakthrough (success) 'that is more encouraging than a man walking on the moon' - eventhough some have suggested to be careful.

According to a survey published on Tuesday, 21st Oct 2014 in a journal Cell Transplantation, Darek Fydika paralyzed from chest below, but is now able to walk using a frame after a nerve cell from his nose was transfered to a broken spine.

Pawel Tabakow, a neurosurgeon consultant in Wroclaw University, Poland, led a group of surgeons removed one of the "bulb" smell nerve cells cultured patient before transferring to the spine in two important surgical treatment.



Scientists involved believed that cells which are sown at the bottom and top of the injury enable damaged tendon to be connected again, but other researches were suspicious.

"Apa yang kami telah lakukan adalah menetapkan asas – urat saraf dapat tumbuh kembali dan mengembalikan fungsi, dengan syarat kita menyediakannya jambatan," said Geoff Raisman, Nerve Regeneration Chairman, Institute of Neurology, University College of London, who led the British research team working in the project.

"To me, this is more favorable than man travel on the moon. I believe this is the moment in which the paralysis can be cured. "
